Eric Clapton
I distinctly remember some graffiti about him being God on the Tottenham Court Road.

Appalling if true.

Being technically goos doesn't mean you make a good song. Look at all the prog rock shit in the early 70s and gratuitous self endulgent 10 min guitar solos. Thank god for The Ramones.

Re: Eric Clapton
His bland stage presence shouldn’t have any bearing on his guitar skills

I think even with a couple of grams of coke up his nose he was still a boring fart. More suited to being a Detectorist. And I'm not have a go at Detectorists btw. They are all on the the "What am I listening To now Thread" Except me.

Seen him a couple of times at Wembley stadium, fuck knows why I went back a second time, dreary and absolute zero stage presence!

Re: Eric Clapton
As Swiss stated earlier, Clapton was shite after he left Cream and I never understood why. He had all those years, experience and influencers to draw upon but he never really progressed anything further than a pop muscian

Re: Eric Clapton
Doesn't really matter because Prince thought he was the greatest musician of all time. And he was brown.

Re: Eric Clapton
Jimi Hendrix commented when seeing Cream play Strange Brew it had a profound influence on him how to play lead guitar.

But Cream was 3 brilliant musicians.

I'd add Peter Green to that list.

Yes Vexed, Prince is very underrated as a musician.

Re: Eric Clapton
Prince doesn't get enough credit for how good a musician he was.

Re: Eric Clapton

Agree.
My father in law ranks these three guitarists
1. Jeff Beck
2. Eric Clapton
3. Jimi Hendrix

He saw all them all and others and thought Hendrix was "too flashy'
